Prayer plant Maranta leuconeura var. erythroneura with pot

Maranta leuconeura  has many nicknames including ‘Prayer Plant’ as the leaves tend to lie flat in the daytime and fold upright in the evening as if in prayer.   These gorgeous green leaves  have a pink vein and pink back to them.  This is firmly in Clare’s top 3 all time favourite houseplants. Easy and fast growing with the occasional crop of small white flowers. Glazed ceramic pot measures 15cm.

Light – bright indirect sunshine, avoiding direct sun.  Keep above 15C.

Water – thrives in high humidity, when the top of the soil is dry water.  Don’t allow to sit in water.  Likes well draining soil.

Food – feed monthly in the growing season (between Easter and October)
